Soccer

Yesterday at 3:00 Eagle's Nest hosted a soccer game with kids from the Home, the Community, and a teacher in town brought in a team of young men.  The Manna kids and the kids at the Home had been telling me about it all week and were very excited!  Pedro's vision is to do more sports activities with the Solola and surrounding communities and in doing so be able to open the door to share about God.

Jose Manuel and Onoria did a fine job keeping score!

All the kids from the Home that weren't playing came to watch and cheer on the teams
along with several kids from the community that came.  I do believe they would
of played soccer for hours more if someone would of let them.
Older boys team watching game and waiting another turn.
Pastor Neimeis waiting to play.
Ever  ready to play Goalie

So what was really cool is I see most of these kids at the Home, or at Manna, or at School.
But I very seldom see them all playing together.  They live in different areas, have different  schedules and have different responsibilities.  It really was great to see them on Teams together and having such a great time.
Sports is such an awesome way to get to know someone, to learn to trust, to learn to serve and to
learn discipline and team work.  Hats off once again to Pedro who organized and put on the tournament.
I know it is a vision of his to have a larger Sports ministry here at Eagle's Nest and I can see what an impact that could have here in this community.

No bleachers, fancy goalposts,  concession stands, or even a finished
sport court.  Didn't matter to any of us!  In fact didn't even notice it till
I started looking at the photos.  Just found an open spot to stand or sit and enjoy the
game.  The smaller kids started practicing soccer plays on the side of the court.
They will be ready when it comes time for them to play!
Sweet Sonya from the Village to cheer on the teams

So I am observing the older guys play soccer and noticed  a player who had a leg/foot disability

He was an awesome soccer player!  I was showing the photos of the game to the kids in the Home today when Ever
saw these photos he kept saying "Muey Beun"!

Some of us assume it has been that way most of his life and to try and perform surgery to correct at this point would probably not work.  He was really a fast and excellent player and a huge asset to the team.

Sweet little Kevin had watched and played soccer on the sidelines as long as he could.  Had to take a quick catnap!

It was a great afternoon hanging out with the kids and cheering on the teams.

What a wonderful Sports Ministry that is taking place her at Eagle's Nest.  Along with many other ministries taking place here.   Reminder to me that Church in not a  building - it is the People.

....It is Love that Really Builds up the Church
