My kids

I promised myself I would share on my blog, not because many read it, but because I want to share memories on my heart.  Eagle's Nest was an orphanage with sixty five babies the first time I went there.  It was a week long trip doing whatever the team could to help with the 24/7 care of that many babies.  It was a privilege to do so and that is when I knew I would always be a part of this Ministry.
Adoptions stopped a couple years later & Eagle's Nest transitioned from being on orphanage to a Children's Home.  That was eight years ago.  As children were placed in the Home the direction and responsibility changed from taking care of babies, to raising children until they turn eighteen.
These children are growing up to wonderful young adults, thanks to the love and care they have received at Eagle's Nest, as well as from teams that come year after year to serve and love on these kids.  The kids know many of us keep coming back, that this isn't a one time thing.
I have been fortunate the past few years be able to help parent the older boys and girls while
the full time House parents had vacations or time off.   Lots of  laughs and giggles getting to know each other better. Thank goodness for online translation!!!
Several of the kids have learned English but are hesitant to speak it.  Although my Spanish is much better than it was, by no means am I fluent.
That is the goal I am striving towards this year.
The older boys that have turned eighteen are now living off the property.
They are working and going to school and I am so proud of them all.
Lots of laughs and memories made again this year.
As the kids get older and transition out of the Home I look forward to see God's plan for
their lives. They each have a very special place in my heart and I am thankful for modern technology and being able to communicate with them throughout the year.
I really do consider these kids my kids.

Blessings, Denise

Beautiful Video

Beautiful video that captures the beauty of Eagle's Nest in Guatemala. Grateful for Stefan and Audrey's friendship over the years and for our time together every January! They area a blessing not only in my life but all those at EN! If you are looking for a place to support on a regular basis I encourage you to give here. Eagle's Nest directors, Felis and Pedro, are wise stewards of the money God blesses them with to run this amazing ministry. I could go on and on........

I hope you take the time to watch.  Blessings, Denise

Home - the Silence is Real

Washing of hands
It will be week tomorrow since I returned from Eagle's Nest Children's Home.
Lots and lots of hugs goodbyes and although I try not to cry, that seldom works.
The new Baby
My heart is full of love and gratefulness for my time there and I have so much to share.
It will be a goal to do so not only for those keeping up but so that I have written memories to look back on.
Smaller girls at the Home
By now I know when I return it takes several days to adjust to being home.  The thing I notice the most when I return is the Silence - it can be overwhelming at times.
Smaller boys at the Home
While at EN you hear beautiful sounds drifting up the mountainside - dogs barking, buses struggling to get up the windy mountain road, horns honking, firecrackers going off (early a.m. to celebrate Birthdays and continue throughout the day into the night),  music blaring from small town below the Home, and the sound of the wind whipping around the mountain top on a regular basis.
Medium age boys at the Home
Some of the kids from Manna Feeding Program
Cutie from Manna
You also hear the lovely sounds of kids playing, toddlers running up and down the hallway, babies crying, kids laughing, etc.....  The sounds of Guatemala are like beautiful music to my ears, so I have soft Spanish Christian Music playing in the background from time to time, as I adjust to the Silence.
Thank you for keeping up with my journey.
Blessings!

Full moon

January 30, 2018
Got a shot of the full moon last night at Eagle's Nest.
Saying goodbye to the older girls.  I so enjoyed extra time with them as the house parent on weekends. Thankful for stronger relationships with them all.Image may contain: 8 people, people smiling, night

Go be Love

The voice of the Lord echoes from the clouds.  The God of glory thunders through the skies.
                                                                       Psalm 29:3

Can hardly believe it has been a week since I posted.  Hopefully those of you keeping up can see facebook posts/photos.  Although it is easier, I enjoy sharing stories here.
Last week entailed cleaning, organizing, playing,  helping with homework, playing with babies,
changing diapers, feeding, exercise classes, and whatever might be needed.  Lots of loving on kids!
I always try and be available to help serve the meal during Manna Wednesday through Friday.
Some children attending I know from previous years but we also have many new children attending.  The pastor and his wife, Job and Eva, visit the families regular to evaluate and see if family needs have changed.
It's nice to walk some of the kids a short distance down the road to a little store for a snack and soda.
Keep in mind they are on the property 24/7 so it is a fun time for them to do something different.
I have yet to perfect a selfie, or a camera that removes wrinkles, so this is the best it gets!!
We had lots of laughs trying to figure out how to get us all in the picture.  They are all good kids!
Keep in mind they are on the property 24/7, except for the older kids who go to school off the property now, so getting off the property is treat in itself.

Church is always great.  It is wonderful to see the kids worshiping the Lord plus it is a good time to see them all at once and get pictures.
Thanks for keeping up!  Blessings, Denise
