New Dressers

The awesome team from Michigan, led by Don and Dianne, hand crafted dressers for the girls rooms.
They are beautiful and look great in the rooms.  Thanks to the whole team that got them done!!
After the tile was put on the top by workers here at EN and the grout had dried it was game on as girls sorted and folded clothes.  Just a side note, the pile of clothes on the floor includes all they have to put in dressers - blouses, socks, dresses, jeans, undies, and pajamas.  Claudia is in pink background and I believe Wendy is in stripped shirt.  Looks like Wendy also has a blanket in her belongings.

They were soooooo very excited!!  Anita and Maria are the twins in the photo above.  They were 3 years old when I first met them.  If I recall correctly they were removed from the Home for a short time and put in another home.  Don't remember the reason, just know we (ACF)  prayed that they would be returned and they were.  They are full of energy and personality, as is any 8 year old.
As far as I know this is the first chest of drawers they have had since they have been in the Home.
Just some background info here:  When I came to Eagle's Nest in 2007 they had 65 babies, and six or eight older children.  Claudia, Onoria, Maria, Anita and a few others that were adopted out.

Flory has been here since she was a baby

Claudia has been here since I came in 2007.
She was extremely malnourished when she came.

Onoria has been here since I first came in 2007

Most of the babies were adopted out before International adoptions were halted.  When the home was full of babies they had plastic bins labeled with clothes sizes. When adoptions stopped EN got down to thirteen children.  The government now places children here, space permitting.  The Home is now a place that the children will grow up in.  EN has adapted and changed to do whatever necessary to make sure the children have a safe place to grow up in with meals, clothes, schooling, playtime, and care 24/7.  Having dressers and some private space for them as they grow up is wonderful. I went through the drawers after they put clothes in  and even though they only have two big drawers and one for under garments none of them are full.  They have enough room to put what few personal items they may have - a book, a note, a purse, lotion, stuffed animals, etc and most of the drawers still have room leftover.  Perspective for me on so many levels.  I am sure it will be to you as well.
Open ended shelves were used for clothes in the girls rooms prior to new dressers.  The boys open ended shelves were in bad shape so we replaced a couple of them.  They used and old one for shoes. They were so excited.  Pablo hasn't had a shelf and was using a wicker basket.  I think he was the most excited.  Hopefully a team in the near future will be able to build dressers for the boys rooms as well.

Raising 48 children is a huge responsibility and my hats are off to Larry and Claire Boggs and Felis and Pedro Patlan for the amazing job they do here at Eagle's Nest.   Please consider financially supporting EN on a monthly basis.  Education for these children is of upmost importance so please consider giving towards that.  More info can be found at www.eaglesnestint.org.  The cost of food, clothes, medicine, water, electricity, supplies, workers, books, toys, are tremendous.  Any amount is appreciated.
God will Bless you in your giving,

Denise
